KPK asks the public to be vigilant after receiving a report that the name of the Deputy Korsup was tagged by a scammer
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded the public to be aware of the modus operandi of fraud in the name of KPK officials through short messages. This warning was conveyed after there were public reports.
"KPK received information from the public regarding the irresponsible party sending short messages through WhatsApp or WA in the name of the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision of the KPK," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters quoted on Thursday, March 19.
The Deputy for Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) of the KPK is currently held by Elli Kusumatuti. "In the message that is circulating, the party claims to be the Deputy of the KPK and contacts the head of the business entity," said Budi.
Budi ensured that the message circulating was not sent by Elli as Deputy for Corruption Eradication Commission (Korsup) and was believed to be a fraud. So, the public is asked to be careful when receiving similar messages.
"The message is suspected to be part of a fraud scheme in the name of the KPK for certain interests. We urge the public to be careful of similar information, by not providing any information to the sender of the message," he said.

The KPK also asks the public to be careful with fraudulent or extortionary methods related to case management and donations. "Every assignment by KPK employees is accompanied by an official letter of assignment," said Budi.
If you find this kind of modus, Budi asks the public to report directly to the KPK or the police. Reporting to the agency directly can be done through the Call Center 198 or pengaduan@kpk.go.id.
This complaint can also be made during the holidays of Nyepi and Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah. "With this access still open, the KPK hopes that public participation in supporting efforts to eradicate corruption can continue to be maintained on an ongoing basis," concluded Budi.
