Frequently Asked Personal Questions, Here are Tips to Maintain Mental Health During Eid

JAKARTA - Lebaran is a special moment to enjoy time with family. However, in some cases, the Lebaran moment can actually drain the mind because it is often asked personal things, such as when to get married or related to work.

In this condition, the risk of experiencing mental fatigue will increase. Therefore, it is important to prevent mental fatigue and still be able to enjoy the Eid moment well.

Psychologist and lecturer at the Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB University, Nur Islamiah, MPsi, PhD, said there were several things that could be done to manage mental stress during family gatherings during Eid.

One of them is by regulating self-expectations and setting psychological limits. You have to remember that you don't have the obligation to please everyone.

"We have no obligation and it is impossible to please everyone. Often we feel that we always have to smile, serve guests, and maintain the atmosphere," said Nur, quoted from the IPB University website, on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Limit yourself by choosing the conversation you want to have or take a moment to calm down.

It's also worth remembering that setting limits on time and energy for socializing doesn't mean not valuing others.

This action is just an effort to maintain mental health. Setting limits is important to maintain emotional capacity, so that it is not easy to feel tired or offended, which may cause further problems.

"Giving space does not mean distancing, but a way to maintain emotional capacity. Without that space, we are more likely to feel tired, offended, even empty even though we are surrounded by many people," he concluded.

In addition, it is also recommended to continue to try to provide polite answers regarding questions about personal matters during Lebaran. Some answers that can be given are "please pray" or "still in the process", which is enough to maintain the comfort of the interlocutor without having to explain in detail.
