Support the Use of Electric Vehicles, 189 SPKLU Available on the 2026 Lebaran Homecoming Route
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) together with the Toll Road Business Agency (BUJT) has strengthened the Lebaran 2026 homecoming service by providing 189 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at various rest and service (TIP) or rest areas on a number of toll roads.
The provision of SPKLU is part of efforts to support a more environmentally friendly homecoming journey, especially for electric vehicle users on major routes, such as the Trans Java Toll Road and the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that readiness for homecoming not only depends on road conditions, but also on supporting facilities along the way.
"We ensure the readiness of national road infrastructure, including toll roads in a condition that is fit to pass. However, no less important is the readiness of supporting facilities such as rest areas which are an important point for travelers to rest safely and comfortably," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Thursday, March 19.
On Java Island, there are 152 SPKLU units spread across 73 TIPs, ranging from the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road to the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road.
Meanwhile, on the island of Sumatra, there are 37 SPKLU units in 27 TIPs spread across the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road to Pekanbaru-Dumai.
Apart from SPKLU, the PU Ministry also ensures the readiness of rest areas on all operational toll roads.
Currently, there are 136 TIPs equipped with facilities such as gas stations, parking areas, toilets, places of worship, culinary centers, and rest areas.
To anticipate the surge in vehicle volume, 15 functional TIPs were also prepared that can be operated on a situational basis to disperse the density in the existing rest area.
A number of TIPs that have been ready to be used, including the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll TIP KM 37+000 A/B, the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll TIP KM 99+800 A/B and the Semarang-Solo Toll TIP KM 439+000 A and KM 444+000 B which have been equipped with additional facilities, such as workshops, health posts, lactation rooms and ATM centers.
Several other TIPs are being prepared in stages and can be functional in a limited manner according to traffic needs.
Starting from the TIP Palembang-Betung KM 71+000 A/B with a progress of around 95 percent and the temporary TIP on the Cipali KM 77B section which utilizes the former Cikopo Toll Gate (GT).
Through the strengthening of toll road services, the optimization of rest areas and the provision of SPKLU is wider, the government hopes that the 2026 Lebaran homecoming journey can take place more smoothly, safely, and comfortably while encouraging more sustainable transportation.
