Deficit, Mensesneg Prasetyo: Don't Cut Government Flagship Programs
Jakarta - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi responded to the budget deficit which has recently become news.
According to Prasetyo, the government will not cut President Prabowo Subianto's flagship programs, such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and People's Schools to cover the deficit. The option chosen is to comb through spending that is considered less productive and postpone spending that is not urgent.
This was conveyed by Prasetyo Hadi after a coordination meeting for the presidential priority program at the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 17.
Mensesneg Prasetyo explained that the fiscal deficit must be read in terms of one budget year, not cut from a certain event. According to Prasetyo, the efficiency step was actually underway even before the escalation of the war, which later also put pressure on the global situation.
The government, said Prasetyo, has routinely evaluated shopping posts that can be suppressed from the beginning, ranging from overseas business trips to the construction of buildings that are not urgent and do not interfere with the performance of ministries.
