Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Confirms Mojtaba Khamenei in Good Health
JAKARTA - The new Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, is in good health and may soon deliver a new speech, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.
"I can tell you that he is in good health," Baghaei told NDTV, quoted by TASS (17/3).
"You have heard about his speech and, I hope, soon he will deliver another speech to the public," added the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative.
He noted that the conflict in the Middle East is "a war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel."
"The Iranian people are determined to defend their homeland, and that is what we are doing now," Baghaei said.
Khamenei (56) was elected in the election in the Assembly of Experts to replace his father, the late Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who was killed when the US-Israeli attack on the State of the Mullahs began on February 28.
He was reportedly injured as a result of the wave of attacks on Iran. Later, the Government Advisor and President Masoud Pezeshkian's son, Yousef Pezeshkian, denied rumors that Mojtaba was injured.
"I heard the news about the Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba, being injured. I contacted friends and asked about it. Thank God, he is in good health without any problems," he said as quoted by the ISNA news agency.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in an US-Israeli attack and was taken to Moscow for treatment.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday declined to comment on media reports claiming that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has arrived in Moscow for treatment.
"We do not comment on such reports in any way," Peskov said at a news conference in Moscow, Anadolu reported.
