There are still many mistakes, the Minister of Health shares the correct way to use a neck pillow
JAKARTA - The Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, highlighted the many people who still use the wrong neck pillow when sleeping on the go. This was shared through his personal Instagram post @bgsadikin.
In the video, Budi explained that the wrong use of a neck pillow can make the head fall forward and make the neck stiff. The error in use is by placing the opening of the pillow in front of the neck.
"Many people make the mistake of wearing a neck pillow with an opening in front," said Budi, quoted on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Budi then explained how to use a neck pillow correctly. According to him, the thick and fused part of the pillow should be placed on the front of the neck, just below the chin.
"From now on, position the thick part just below our chin," he said.
With such a pillow position, the head that feels heavy when falling asleep will not fall forward and be held by the pillow. This position will help reduce the load on the neck muscles and joints.
Not only that, Budi also conveyed that the back of the head was actually supported by the seat back of the vehicle. Therefore, the front of the neck needs to get additional support from the battalion.
"The back of our head is already leaning safely on the chair," he said.
By using a neck pillow properly, sleeping during long trips can be more comfortable. The correct use of a neck pillow also helps reduce complaints of stiff necks and sore bodies during travel.
In the video, Budi also invited the Indonesian people to share information about using the correct neck pillow. This will help prevent pain after sleeping on the road, especially during the Lebaran homecoming this time.
