Sony Releases Latest PSSR Improvement, Promises More Stable Image Quality
JAKARTA - Sony Interactive Entertainment officially released the latest software system update for the PlayStation 5 which brings improvements to the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.
Sony revealed that this artificial intelligence (AI) based technology is claimed to be able to improve image stability, detail sharpness, and maintain more consistent performance.
This technology works by analyzing each frame pixel-by-pixel to improve visual resolution more precisely.
A number of major game developers have also begun to integrate this latest version of PSSR into their titles. Among them are Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 from Konami, which now offer a smoother playing experience with sharper visual details.
Improvements are also present in other popular games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from Square Enix, Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment, and Capcom for the Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2 games.
In addition, other developers such as Ninja Theory and Koei Tecmo also utilize this technology in their titles, including Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Nioh 3.
Sony says this update will begin to be rolled out gradually from March 16, 2026 and will be available to all users in the next few days.
In addition to the games that have been announced, a number of other titles such as Crimson Desert, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Cyberpunk 2077 will soon get PSSR support through upcoming updates.
This technology was developed through collaboration with AMD in a project called Project Amethyst, and will be available to more new games on the PS5 Pro in the future.
