Long Traffic Jam Still Occurring Towards Gilimanuk Port

JAKARTA - The TNI-Polri ranks together with related agencies continue to monitor the situation of long queues of homecoming traffic on the route to Gilimanuk Port, the main entrance and exit for vehicles from and to the Bali-Java Islands.

The Bali Police Chief, Irjen Daniel Adityajaya, together with the IX/Udayana Military Commander, Major General TNI Piek Budyakto, and the Head of the Bali Basarnas, I Nyoman Sidakarya, conducted a direct inspection of the Gilimanuk crossing route using a helicopter.

"The aerial inspection was carried out to see the overall condition of traffic flow, as well as to ensure the smooth mobility of people who want to cross to Java Island," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes. Ariasandy, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 17.

He explained that the review carried out by the ranks of the National Police together with the TNI and Basarnas was part of an effort to ensure that services to the public continued to run optimally during the operation.

"Direct verification through aerial monitoring to see the actual condition of the homecoming flow to the Gilimanuk Port. From the results of the monitoring, it is indeed seen that the vehicle queue is still quite long due to the high mobility of people who want to cross to Java Island," he said.

He said the queue of vehicles heading to the Gilimanuk Port was still quite long, even reaching dozens of kilometers. The line of vehicles, dominated by logistics trucks, passenger buses, and private vehicles, seemed to be waiting for their turn to enter the port area.

According to him, this condition is triggered by the high mobility of the community who want to go to Java Island during the homecoming momentum. The surge in vehicles has not been fully offset by the availability of ferry fleets, so that the capacity of port services is limited and triggers long queues.

Ariasandy said his party together with related institutions would immediately coordinate to find strategic steps in breaking down the vehicle density before the Nyepi celebration.

"The Bali Police Chief together with related officials will carry out further coordination with related stakeholders to find the best solution, so that the crossing service can run more optimally and the community still feels safe and comfortable on the journey," he said.
