Supporting National Energy Self-sufficiency, Torang IWIP Foundation Donates Solar Power Plant for Sumenep Community
JAKARTA - Tsingshan Group through the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation has donated two Solar Power Plants (PLTS) equipped with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to the Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java. The donation, which was also initiated by Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) Indonesia, is expected to expand access to reliable and sustainable electricity for the community and support the vision of the Indonesian Government towards energy self-sufficiency.
The initiative was realized through cooperation between the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, the Sumenep Regency Government, and PT PLN (Persero) which was marked by the signing of an agreement on March 13, 2026 at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta. The signing of the cooperation was also witnessed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, as a form of support for collaboration between various parties in expanding access to clean energy for the community.
Chairman of the Yayasan Torang IWIP Berbakti, Wahyu Budhi Santoso, conveyed the commitment of the Tsingshan Group and the Yayasan Torang IWIP Berbakti in supporting the vision of the Indonesian Government to meet and equalize energy access for the community.
"We hope that the grant of two PLTS with a capacity of 1 megawatt peak (MWp), which is equipped with a BESS with a capacity of 4 megawatt hour (MWh), can provide a stable electricity supply for the community, in two villages in Sumenep Regency, Madura. This effort is also supported through cooperation with PT PLN (Persero)," he said in a written statement, Tuesday, March 17.
On this occasion, Rosan expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between the industrial sector, government, and community in supporting the development of renewable energy and energy self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
"We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, the Sumenep Regency Government, and PT PLN (Persero) for their collaboration in realizing this pilot project. This initiative is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's vision to accelerate the acceleration of the national energy transition," said Rosan.
The Regent of Sumenep, Achmad Fauzi Wongsojudo, who was also present on the occasion, said that the acceleration of access to electricity in the Sumenep area was indeed very needed. "This grant is very meaningful because it can encourage electrification that the community can immediately feel the benefits of," he said.
This project will be implemented on Gili Labak Island and Small Pagerungan Island, Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java, and is estimated to provide electricity for around 2,000 households.
This grant reflects the commitment of the Tsingshan Group and the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation in supporting the vision of national energy self-sufficiency and expanding access to electricity for the people of Indonesia.
