Andrie Yunus' Condition is Stable, This is a Complete Explanation of the Impact of Hard Water Irrigation

JAKARTA - The Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) stated that Andrie Yunus alias AY (27) patient with burns due to chemical liquid to the face area and several body parts was stable and not in a life-threatening condition.

RSCM Legal and Public Relations Manager Yoga Nara said the patient came to the RSCM Emergency Room (IGD) on Friday (13/3) early morning at around 00.00 WIB, with complaints of burns on the face, neck, chest, back, and both arms, accompanied by vision problems in the right eye.

Yoga said that medical treatment would continue to be carried out gradually according to the development of the patient's condition, including the possibility of tissue reconstruction and follow-up procedures to help optimize visual function recovery.

"Upon arrival at the Emergency Room, the medical team immediately conducted a preliminary examination and stabilization measures. The examination using the pH indicator showed exposure to an acidic chemical substance on the wound area. As an initial treatment, the medical team washed the exposed area to reduce the effects of chemicals and normalize the tissue condition," he said as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 17.

Then, the results of the follow-up examination showed that the patient suffered burns of about 20 percent on the body area as well as chemical trauma to the right eye with a degree of severity of level three in the acute phase. This condition caused a sharp decrease in vision and damage to the surface of the cornea.

"To deal with this condition, the patient underwent a procedure to clean the damaged tissue in the right eye and an amniotic membrane transplant to protect the eye surface and support the healing process," he said.

Furthermore, the patient was treated in the High Care Unit (HCU) for burns to receive comprehensive monitoring and further treatment by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of ophthalmologists, reconstructive plastic surgeons, and emergency medical teams.

The therapy provided, he said, includes wound care, antibiotic administration, anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamins, and treatment to keep eye pressure under control.

"RSCM is committed to providing comprehensive and professional medical services for every patient who needs treatment for similar complex trauma cases," he said.
