86 CCTV Traced, the perpetrator of the Water Spraying Hard Activist of KontraS is suspected of fleeing to Bogor

JAKARTA - Police have identified 86 surveillance camera (CCTV) points to trace the movements of the perpetrators of the water spraying against activist of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andre Yunus in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 2026 early morning. From the results of the analysis, the perpetrators were known to have fled and dispersed to the East Jakarta and Bogor areas, West Java.

Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, said investigators had formed a joint team to uncover the case. The team consists of investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya, and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.

"After receiving reports of the incident, we conducted an investigation by analyzing CCTV footage and existing communication channels," Iman said at a press conference, Monday, March 16, 2026.

According to him, from the 86 surveillance camera points that were analyzed, investigators collected 2,610 video image pieces with a total duration of 10,320 minutes. The details consist of seven CCTV electronic toll system, 27 CCTV owned by Diskominfotik, eight CCTV from the Transportation Office, and 44 CCTV owned by residents and offices along the route taken by the perpetrator.

From the analysis, the police found that the suspected perpetrators had been following the victim since before the incident.

"The movement of the suspected perpetrators was detected through several surveillance camera points with a path starting from the movement of these perpetrators from the South Jakarta area to the initial gathering point on Jalan Merdeka Timur or around the front of Gambir Station," he said.

"Furthermore, they crossed Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, then headed to Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat to the Tugu Tani area," he continued.

Iman revealed that the perpetrators then turned through Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur to the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), the location where the victim had previously attended activities.

Iman explained that the victim had filled up fuel at the Cikini Raya gas station before going home. This movement was followed by the perpetrators.

"Around 23.32 to 23.35 WIB, the alleged perpetrators were seen at the Cikini Raya gas station," he said.

After that, the four perpetrators who used two motorbikes waited for the victim in front of a fast food restaurant in the Cikini area. They then followed the victim to Jalan Diponegoro to Jalan Salemba I.

The incident of hard water spraying occurred at 00.37 WIB at the intersection of Jalan Salemba I and Jalan Talang, Central Jakarta.

"At the scene we got CCTV footage with clear enough images that it was very helpful in the investigation process," said Iman.

After carrying out the action, the perpetrators fled using two motorcycles in different directions. The first two perpetrators went against the flow from Jalan Salemba to Senen, then to Jalan Kramat Raya, Tugu Tani, to the Gondangdia Station area before moving to South Jakarta.

"Meanwhile, the other two perpetrators fled straight from the scene to Jalan Pramuka Sari II, then to Matraman, Jatinegara, to Jalan Otista Iskandar Dinata in East Jakarta," he added.

Iman said that from the development of the investigation and analysis of digital communications, the police also found that one of the perpetrators had changed clothes before continuing to escape.

"The results of the analysis of the communication network show that the perpetrators then dispersed to the Kalibata, Ragunan, and Bogor areas," said Iman.

The police ensured that the investigation process was still being carried out to reveal the identity and motives of the perpetrators.
