Janice Tjen's Heavy Test If She Successfully Passes the First Round of the 2026 Miami Open

JAKARTA - Indonesia's mainstay tennis player, Janice Tjen, is sure to get a tough test in the second round of the 2026 WTA 1000 Miami Open if she manages to win her first round match.

The Miami Open will take place on March 17-29, 2026 at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, USA. This is the ninth tournament played by Janice in the WTA Tour calendar this year.

Janice, 23, started her journey in Miami by facing Yulia Putintseva from Kazakstan. Yulia is certainly not an easy opponent because she has previously ranked 20th in the world, which is the best in her career.

If he manages to get through to the second round, a more difficult challenge awaits Janice. The Jakarta-born tennis player is sure to meet Elena Rybakina who got a blank draw in the first round.

Rybakina, who is also from Kazakhstan, is currently the world's second-ranked tennis player and is the third seed in Miami. The 26-year-old was the Australian Open Grand Slam champion in January 2026.

In addition to reaching the final at Melbourne Park and climbing to the highest podium there, Rybakina also managed to reach the Indian Wells 2026 finals which ended only at the end of last weekend. He came out as runner-up after losing to world number one Aryna Sabalenka.

Before appearing in Miami, Janice was listed to play in the ASB Classic, Hobart International, Australian Open, Abu Dhabi Open, Qatar Open, Dubai Championship, Merida Open, and Indian Wells this year.

Apart from appearing in the women's singles sector, Janice also played mostly in the women's doubles from those tournaments. The Qatar Open is the only tournament where her women's doubles number is not followed by Janice.

Janice's best singles journey so far this year was reaching the third round at the Dubai Championship. Meanwhile, in the doubles sector, she managed to win the Hobart International with Katarzyna Piter (Poland).
