There was a Drone Incident, Flights at Dubai International Airport were Suspended

DUBAI - Flights at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have been temporarily suspended as a precaution, after a drone incident around the airport caused a fire in one of the fuel tanks, the Dubai Media Office said on Monday morning.

"The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced the temporary suspension of flights at Dubai International Airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff," the office said in a post on X, launching Al Arabiya (16/3).

"Dubai Civil Defense teams have managed to extinguish a fire caused by a collision on one of the fuel tanks around Dubai International Airport. There are no reports of injuries," the Dubai Media Office said later.

As a result of this development, Dubai Airports announced that several flights from Dubai International Airport will be diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

Travelers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest information.

Dubai police also announced on X that there was a road closure at the Cargo Village and Marrakech St. intersection leading to the airport.

"Drivers are advised to use alternative routes," the police said.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense said that the UAE air defense was responding to missile and drone threats coming from Iran.
