Central Java Governor asks travelers not to bring relatives when returning to Jakarta
JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi asked travelers not to bring relatives or friends back to Jakarta if they do not have job certainty.
"I have conveyed to the travelers, later after returning to Jakarta, do not bring people if you do not have a job guarantee," said Luthfisaat at the release of the 2026 free Lebaran homecoming program at the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum parking area, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Monday, March 16 reported by ANTARA.
According to Luthfi, this step is important so as not to add to the burden of big cities such as Jakarta which already have a high population density.
He said the Central Java Provincial Government had prepared various job training programs for residents who chose to continue working in their home areas, including through the Job Training Center (BLK), vocational training, and workforce development prepared by the provincial government and district/city governments.
"Central Java has prepared BLK, vocational training, and workforce development. So if you want to work, you can just work in Central Java. We don't want to burden Jakarta, especially East Jakarta," said Luthfi.
According to him, all regional heads in Central Java are also ready to receive returnees who return to their hometowns. He assessed that the homecoming moment was not only a tradition of mutual visits, but also had the potential to encourage economic circulation in the region.
"There is a circulation of people, goods and money in the area. That will stimulate the community's economy," said Luthfi.
In addition, the Central Java Provincial Government has also prepared various facilities to serve pilgrims who pass through Central Java.
As an area that is in the middle lane of Java Island, the province is a stopover point for travelers from various regions.
"Central Java is the center of the national homecoming flow. People from West Java to East Java pass through Central Java, and vice versa," explained Luthfi.
Therefore, the local government has prepared infrastructure and supporting facilities such as hotels, rest areas, and UMKM centers in various locations.
Luthfi hopes that travelers who pass through Central Java can rest and shop for UMKM products so that they can help the local economy.
He also advised travelers to always maintain their health during the journey and convey greetings to their families in their hometowns.
The Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has sent more than 16 thousand pilgrims in the 2026 free Lebaran homecoming program from the gathering point in the parking area of the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta.
Around 325 buses were prepared to transport nearly 16,870 people who would return to Central Java.
