From Behind Bars, Nikita Mirzani Sends an Open Letter to President Prabowo: Where is Justice?
JAKARTA - Controversial artist Nikita Mirzani has again stolen the public's attention. From behind bars, the woman who is familiarly called "Nyai" sent an open letter addressed directly to President Prabowo Subianto.
Not only to the President, the letter was also sent to the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, to the Head of the Judicial Commission. Nikita protested strongly against the six-year prison sentence he is currently serving.
Through a post on his social media, the mother of three children questioned the sense of justice in Indonesia. Frankly, Nikita compared the sentence he received with the perpetrators of criminal acts of corruption who he considered to be much lighter.
"Nikita Mirzani: A widow and single mother, not a drug dealer, not a murderer, and not harming the state treasury, was sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion," wrote Nikita as quoted by VOI from his personal Instagram, Monday, March 16.
He cited the case of the former President Director of Pertamina who, according to him, was only sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, even though the case had massive losses to the state treasury.
"Where is the justice when a backbone of the family is treated more cruelly than a thief of people's money?" he continued in a satirical tone.
Not just a confession, Nikita also revealed a number of points that he considered as irregularities in the legal procedures he went through. One of them is the change of the indictment article from Article 368 to Article 369 of the Criminal Code in the middle of the trial without a re-examination report (BAP).
Another anomaly he highlighted was the speed of the cassation ruling by the Supreme Court which only took one day.
"It is very difficult to be explained logically, how can a file that was examined on March 12 be immediately decided on March 13 at night. Can thousands of pages of files and the fate of a person be studied in depth in just a few hours?" he wrote again.
Closing his open letter, Nikita asked law enforcement to use their conscience, especially considering the fate of his three young children.
"Aren't you afraid to provide for your family from the results of oppressing a mother of three small children? Nikita Mirzani is not a threat to the country. Destroying her life means destroying the future of innocent children," he concluded.
For information, Nikita Mirzani is currently in prison in connection with the extortion and money laundering crime (TPPU). This case is the aftermath of a report from the skincare entrepreneur, Reza Gladys.
The feud between the two began in late 2024, triggered by a product review on social media which then led to accusations of extortion worth billions of rupiah.
Initially, the South Jakarta District Court sentenced Nikita to four years in prison in October 2025. However, the sentence was increased to six years by the DKI Jakarta High Court after the TPPU indictment was considered proven.
On Friday, March 13, 2026, the Supreme Court officially rejected Nikita's cassation, making the ruling now legally binding or inkracht.
