West Java Police Chief: Sumbu Tiga Truck Causes Traffic and Homecoming Accidents
BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police has taken action against three-axle vehicles or large-tonnage cargo trucks or tronton which are considered to be one of the causes of slowing traffic flow during the Lebaran homecoming.
West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan explained that based on police analysis, a number of traffic jams and accidents on the homecoming route occurred due to three-axle vehicles parked on the shoulder of the road or experiencing obstacles when passing on an uphill route.
"Several traffic accidents were caused by three-axle vehicles parked on the shoulder of the road, slowing down vehicle traffic, especially when going up and down," said Rudi when reviewing the Integrated Post for Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 in the Nagreg area, Bandung Regency, Sunday, March 15.
He said that vehicles often slowed down the flow of other vehicles, causing long queues at a number of points on the homecoming route.
To overcome this, the police together with related agencies have prepared a number of parking bags as a shelter for three-axis vehicles that violate the rules during the homecoming period.
"We have prepared several parking bags for shelter. If it still happens, we will detain the vehicle," he said.
In addition, the police also asked freight companies to replace large vehicles with smaller vehicles so as not to interfere with the smooth flow of traffic.
"We ask employers or transportation services to replace large vehicles with smaller vehicles so as not to interfere with the homecoming flow," he said.
Rudi said that action had been taken against three-axle vehicles in a number of areas in West Java.
"Several police have taken action. I was reported in Sumedang and in several other areas," he said.
He emphasized that this step was taken to ensure that the homecoming flow could run smoothly and reduce the risk of traffic accidents during the Lebaran holiday period.
"We want this homecoming flow to be smooth, homecoming is safe, the family is happy," said Rudi.
