LPSK Provides Emergency Protection to KontraS Activist Victims of Water Spraying

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) provides emergency protection to Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus who was a victim of water spraying by unknown people.

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered burns on several parts of the body and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta.

Deputy Chairman of the LPSK, Sri Suparyati, said that emergency protection was given after her agency received a request from the victim's family on March 13, 2026.

"This emergency protection aims to provide a sense of security to the victim immediately after the crime," said Sri, quoted from Antara, Sunday, March 15.

He explained that LPSK immediately carried out initial handling on March 13-14, 2026 by ensuring that the victim received the necessary medical services while providing physical protection during treatment.

The LPSK team led by Sri Suparyati also coordinated with the RSCM regarding medical treatment, communicated with the KontraS Workers Agency, and conducted an initial assessment with the victim's family to find out the next protection needs.

In addition, LPSK placed a bodyguard to carry out attached security and monitor the victim's condition while being treated at the hospital.

Sri said that emergency protection was given by considering the victim's security conditions, the needs of the law enforcement process, and medical conditions that require quick treatment.

In an effort to fulfill the health services of the victims, the LPSK also opened the possibility of cooperation with various parties, including the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the local government.

"LPSK has provided accompaniment, attached escort, monitoring, and medical assistance during the victim's treatment at RSCM," he said.

LPSK also encourages law enforcement officers to immediately uncover the perpetrators of the hard water spraying so that the victims can get justice while preventing similar cases from recurring.

The incident experienced by Andrie Yunus is suspected to be a severe persecution carried out by two perpetrators. The incident occurred around 23.00 WIB when the victim was on his way home after attending a podcast activity at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office.

The attack occurred at the intersection of Jalan Salemba-Jalan Talang, Central Jakarta. At that time, two people suspected of being perpetrators came on a motorcycle, stopped the victim, then sprayed hard water.

LPSK emphasized that it would continue to monitor the development of the victim's condition and ensure that all victim rights were fulfilled in the ongoing legal process.
