HONOR Robot Phone Appears, Smartphone with 200MP Camera with Gimbal Arm Ready to Release 2026

Jakarta - Chinese smartphone manufacturer HONOR is reportedly preparing to launch an innovative phone called the Robot Phone, which is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2026. This information comes from the latest leak on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, which says the device is likely to debut between July and September.

The Phone Robot was previously shown in concept by HONOR at the 2026 Mobile World Congress global technology event. This device attracted attention because it has a unique design in the form of a mechanical gimbal arm that can come out of the back of the phone to stabilize the camera, then return to the casing when not in use.

One of the specifications that has been known is the main camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels. Although other hardware details have not been revealed, HONOR previously confirmed that this phone will be officially released before the end of the year.

According to a technology leaker known as Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Robot Phone is likely to make its debut in the Chinese market first before expanding to the global market. The presence of the device at MWC earlier this year reinforces the indication that HONOR is targeting an international launch.

The leak also mentions that HONOR's cooperation with professional camera technology company ARRI will be applied to the Robot Phone for the first time. This collaboration is claimed to bring professional-level image processing technology, including video science systems and color algorithms commonly used in the film industry.

In addition, this device is said to carry a hardware-based PTZ stabilization feature. This technology allows the camera to move mechanically to maintain image stability, similar to the stabilizer system commonly used in professional video production.

HONOR is also said to be preparing a new software called video stream processing that allows users to quickly edit videos directly from the phone before publishing to digital platforms. This feature is expected to attract the attention of content creators and vloggers who need a fast and practical video production flow.

Interestingly, the launch schedule which is estimated in the third quarter makes the Robot Phone potentially face directly with Apple's annual iPhone launch cycle. If the leak is accurate, HONOR seems to want to challenge the dominance of the iPhone with a different approach: not just high specifications, but a mechanical camera system that makes the smartphone feel like a professional mini camera.
