Ahead of Eid, Bus Ticket Prices at Lebak Bulus Terminal Rise to Rp70,000

JAKARTA - A number of passengers who want to go home through Lebak Bulus Terminal, South Jakarta, revealed that bus ticket prices are increasing ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

"If you buy a ticket, it's been almost half a month ago. To Baturaja now is around Rp. 360,000, up from the previous Rp. 290,000," said a traveler to Baturaja, South Sumatra, Rafiq Zuanda to reporters in Jakarta, Sunday.

Rafiq had booked a bus ticket almost two weeks before the departure date. For the Jakarta-Baturaja route, the ticket price, which was previously around Rp290,000, has now risen to Rp360,000.

Meanwhile, the price of tickets back to Jakarta from Baturaja is much more expensive, reaching more than Rp500,000. "If you go back to Jakarta, it can be up to Rp570,000," he said.

Meanwhile, a traveler to Banyumas, Central Java, named Eka admitted that he had bought tickets since the beginning of March.

This is so that they can leave early and avoid traffic jams on the way home.

"I bought a ticket on March 1. It costs Rp. 170,000, I usually take a trip," he said.

Bus ticket agent, Oyong admitted that ticket prices had increased.

However, the high demand has made a number of tickets for days approaching Eid al-Fitr sold out.

"Alhamdulillah it's sold out. It went up from Rp. 170,000 to Rp. 250,000," he said.

Based on monitoring at the location, it appears that passengers are filling the departure waiting room.

Even some commuters sit on the floor while waiting for the bus to arrive at the terminal waiting area.

In this waiting area, it was full of luggage for travelers, ranging from suitcases to cardboard boxes. It was also seen that officers from the Transportation Service to medical volunteers were on duty at Lebak Bulus Terminal.

Some travelers choose to leave early to avoid the congestion of the homecoming flow that usually occurs near Lebaran.
