3 Days Missing, Victim Drowned in Komering River Found Dead

JAKARTA - A joint SAR team found the victim Zainudin (74) who was reported to have drowned on Friday, March 13, 2026 in the Komering River in Suka Negeri Village, West Semendawai District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) East, South Sumatra in a state of death.

"After a three-day search after being reported to have drowned, finally today the victim's body was found," said the Head of the Palembang SAR Office, Raymond Konstantin, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, March 15.

He said that the victim who was reported to have drowned while crossing the Komering River by swimming was found on the third day of the search at around 09.20 WIB.

When found, he said, the victim was floating on the banks of the river in Ulak Baru Village, West Semendawai District or about two kilometers from the scene.

The search operation involved a joint SAR Team consisting of the Palembang SAR Office of Basarnas, TNI/Polri, volunteers, and local residents.

The search process was carried out by a joint team using a motor-powered rubber boat to follow the Komering River so that the victim could be found immediately.

"The body of the victim has been evacuated to the funeral home to be handed over to the family," he said.

With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was declared complete and all elements involved were returned to their respective units.

On this occasion, he also appealed to the public to always be careful when carrying out activities in the waters, especially in rivers with currents that are currently quite strong.

"We urge the public to always prioritize safety when carrying out activities in rivers to avoid similar incidents," he said.
