Merak Commuter Line Only to Cilegon Station Starting Today until March 20, 2026

JAKARTA - The Merak Commuter Line service will undergo operational adjustments during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period. Starting from March 13 to 20, 2026, the train journey will only serve the route to Cilegon Station.

The adjustment is the result of coordination between the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, the Banten Provincial Transportation Office, the Cilegon City Transportation Office, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, and KAI Commuter to support traffic arrangements to the crossing port during the Lebaran homecoming period.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda explained that the adjustment of the operating pattern was carried out to anticipate vehicle density to the crossing port in the Merak area.

"Considering the surge in vehicle service users (pemudik driving) who will enter the Merak Ferry Port during the Lebaran Transportation period this year, KAI Commuter has adjusted the Merak Commuter Line service to only reach Cilegon Station and return to Rangkasbitung Station starting Friday, 13 to 20 March 2026," said Karina in a statement. official Friday, March 13.

Karina said the policy was the result of a cross-agency coordination meeting held the previous week to support the easing of congestion in the Merak Port and Bakauheni Port areas, especially during the peak of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming rush.

As in the previous Lebaran transportation period, users of the Merak Commuter Line who want to continue their journey to Krenceng Station and Merak Station will be provided with additional transportation from Cilegon Station. This service will be adjusted to the arrival and departure schedule of trains at the station.

For information, the average volume of Merak Commuter Line users currently reaches around 10,000 to 11,000 passengers per day. For ticket reservations, the public can make purchases through the Access by KAI application starting seven days before departure or through the ticket counter at the station as long as tickets are still available.

KAI Commuter also appeals to the public who will use the Merak Commuter Line service to adjust their travel plans during the operational adjustment period.

"KAI Commuter also urges you to maintain your body condition during the journey, follow the applicable rules and instructions from the officers, and take care of your belongings and always supervise your children if you participate," concluded Karina.
