Euphoria Series Sindir, Labrinth Signals Retirement from the Industry

JAKARTA - Singer and producer Labrinth has declared himself out of the music industry. He revealed this through a recent post on Instagram.

Friday, March 13, Labrinth surprised the public with his latest upload which featured a capital letter that he wrote through a note application.

"I'M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY," Labrinth wrote in the post.

"PERSETAN COLUMBIA. PERSETAN EUPHORIA. AKU KELUAR. TERIMA KASIH DAN SELAMAT MALAM," katanya menyebut label musiknya, Columbia Records serta serial Euphoria.

He did not explain the reason behind the upload, but this news surprised Euphoria fans considering Labrinth has been the composer for the series since season one.

This statement also came out a month before the release of the third season of the series was released on April 12. Several songs he worked on and collaborated with singer Zendaya who played the main role were also used.

Thanks to his involvement, Labrinth won an Emmy for the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category with the song All For Us. He also worked on the scoring for the second season and released the song I'm Tired with Zendaya. In season three, Labrinth collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer.

Previously, he had praised creator Sam Levinson for freeing him up to work on the music for the Euphoria series.

"The main approach of his music is when Sam says 'Lab, do whatever you want to do. Don't let people tease it," he told Variety.

The statement also comes two months after Labrinth released his new album, Cosmic Opera: Act 1 under Columbia.

Neither the label nor the Euphoria series responded to the musician's statement.
