Disable 10 Million Fraud Accounts by 2025, Meta Strengthens Partnership with the National Police
JAKARTA - Meta together with the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia has successfully closed the second Joint Disruption Week organized by the Anti-Cyber Fraud Unit (ACSC) of the Royal Thai Police, a coordinated international operation aimed at dismantling online fraud networks operating throughout Southeast Asia.
As part of this operation, Meta's investigation team claimed to have disabled more than 150,000 accounts associated with a network of fraud centers. Information shared by Meta also contributed to 21 arrests made by the Royal Thai Police.
Meanwhile, throughout 2025, Meta has removed more than 159 million fraudulent ads and disabled 10.9 million accounts on Facebook and Instagram related to fraud centers in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates.
The tech giant has also removed more than 59 million pieces of content on Facebook and Instagram that violated our policies on Fraud and Misleading Practices, of which 90% were proactively removed before being reported by users.
"We are proud to partner with the Royal Thai Police, the FBI, the Scam Center Task Force of the United States Department of Justice, as well as other law enforcement agencies from various countries to combat this increasingly sophisticated fraud network," said Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Meta, Chris Sonderby in a statement received on Friday, March 13.
Chris emphasized that this operation shows that by sharing information and establishing close coordination, we can make real progress in crippling criminal activity to its source.
Going forward, Meta expressed its commitment to continue to fight fraud and will never stop. Meta will also continue to invest in technology and forge partnerships to stay one step ahead of criminals.
