KPop Film Demon Hunters Sequel Confirmed, Released in 2029

JAKARTA - After a long wait, the KPop Demon Hunters film was finally confirmed for a sequel. Director Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans are confirmed to return to work on this second film.

"I feel an incredible sense of pride as a Korean filmmaker that audiences want more than Korean stories and our Korean characters. There's a lot more from the world we're building and we're excited to show you. This is just the beginning," said Maggie Kang.

Chris Appelhans as a fellow creator also said, "These characters are like family to us, their world is our second home."

KPop Demon Hunters tells the story of a fictional K-pop group, HUNTRX, which tries to protect the residents of Honmoon from demonic threats with their music. The story for the second film has not been revealed, but the creators can't wait to develop the HUNTRX story.

"We're excited to write their second chapter, challenge them, and watch them grow and continue to push the boundaries of how music, animation, and storytelling can come together," said Chris Appelhans.

Previously, the creators revealed their interest in making a sequel that would air in 2029. However, at that time they did not know the plans with Netflix.

The KPop film Demon Hunters has become the film with the most number of viewers on Netflix to date. The success of this film is also felt globally when it is shown in theaters.

The soundtrack album and its songs are also selling well on the music charts and competing with other singers. Not only that, the songs and characters are also going viral on TikTok and music services.

The film also received nominations for Best Animated Feature and Original Song at the Academy Awards. In addition, the trio of singers from the film confirmed to sing the song Golden at the upcoming peak night.
