Adityawarman Museum Renovation, Menbud Fadli Zon Targets to Become a More Lively Cultural Space
PADANG - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon inaugurated the Adityawarman Museum environment in Padang, Thursday, March 12. This step marks an impetus for museums not to stop as a place to store collections, but to appear as a more lively cultural, educational, and public activity space.
The inauguration was marked by the completion of the arrangement of the area, including the construction of a fence that is now integrated with the museum area. Fadli emphasized that the museum must be placed as an important part of an active cultural ecosystem in the community.
"This is part of the program to make the museum a comfortable ecosystem, a cultural and educational center, and various activities that can be held in the museum, one of which is this Adityawarman Museum," said Fadli.
He explained, the Adityawarman Museum also received support from the Special Allocation Fund from the Ministry of Culture. The budget was used for non-physical activities, such as exhibitions, performances, and museum activation programs.
According to Fadli, the arrangement of the museum is also in line with the ASRI national movement, namely Aman, Sehat, Resik, and Indah, which is the direction of President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen the quality of public spaces. In West Sumatra, this step is considered important because this area has a wealth of cultural heritage and a large Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Fadli also emphasized that museum standards need to continue to be improved, starting from the exhibition storyline, display layout, lighting, materials, typography, language use, to the use of digital technology so that visitors' experiences are more interactive.
The Adityawarman Museum itself houses more than 6,000 collections, ranging from ethnography, archaeology, numismatics, philology, to traditional fine art. The collection records the traces of the Minangkabau culture, from traditional clothing, musical instruments, household appliances, to traditional weapons.
On the same occasion, Fadli Zon also handed over disaster assistance in the form of a set of prayer tools to disaster-affected people in Padang City.
On that occasion, Padang Mayor Fadly Amran, Head of the West Sumatra Culture Service Syaiful Bahri, and the Ministry of Culture were also present.
