214.533 Vehicles Will Cross Kutepat Toll Road During the 2026 Eid Homecoming Traffic

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Marga Waskita (Hamawas) projects that there will be an increase in the volume of vehicles crossing the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road (Kutepat) during the Lebaran 2026 homecoming flow.

Hamawas President Director Dindin Solakhuddin said that his party projected that there would be a surge in vehicle volume from 169,868 vehicles in normal conditions to around 214,533 vehicles during the upcoming Lebaran homecoming rush.

"Meanwhile, during the reverse flow period, it is predicted to increase higher, namely around 96.37 percent, from the normal condition of 179,577 vehicles to around 352,637 vehicles," Dindin said in a written statement, Thursday, March 12.

To support the smooth flow of traffic on the toll road, Hamawas has also prepared various anticipatory steps, ranging from increased patrols, readiness of operational service vehicles to strengthening coordination with related agencies.

This was confirmed after the Hamawas ranks carried out a Lebaran 2026 homecoming alert appeal at the KM 99 Rest Area of the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Toll Road, Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

"As a toll road business entity (BUJT) that manages the Kutepat toll road, Hamawas also ensures that all toll road service facilities, including toll booths, rest areas and traffic service systems function optimally to support the smooth mobility of the community during the Lebaran period," he said.

Hamawas has also prepared a number of operational facilities and services for road users, including 35 operational fleet units, 311 standby personnel and preparing one Rest and Service (TIP) or rest area at KM 99 Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Toll Road and a temporary TIP at the Sinaksak Toll Gate (GT).

In addition, Hamawas also added five top-up locations at each toll gate, 33 operating stations, 12 mobile reader units, 202 CCTV camera units, and eight Variable Message Sign (VMS) units.

Dindin said, his party will also functionalize the Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll road along 12.55 kilometers to support the smooth flow of homecoming and return at the 2026 Eid moment.

The functional operation of the toll road is expected to help distribute traffic flow, speed up travel time and provide a more comfortable and safe alternative route for travelers crossing North Sumatra (Sumut).

"The plan is to open it functionally in the 2026 Eid moment, especially in supporting the smooth mobility during the homecoming and return moments, so that road users can gather with their families faster," he added.

Road users are urged to drive according to the rules and regulations applicable on toll roads.

Drive at a minimum speed of 60 km/h and a maximum of 80 km/h and do not use the shoulder of the road unless in an emergency.
