Victim Drowned in Kayan River Found Floating in Long Bia
TANJUNG SELOR - The victim who drowned in the Kayan River, Yosua Yulius (40), was found dead in the area of the log pond crossing (Lirung Butung), Long Bia Village, Peso District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara).
The head of the Bulungan Police, Kombes Rofikoh Yunianto, through the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bulungan Police, Aipda Hadi Purnomo, revealed that the discovery of the victim's body began when a resident named Roni (39) was about to cross the car using a log pond in Long Bia Village.
"When he arrived at Lirung Butung, the witness saw a body floating on the banks of the Kayan River," said Aipda Hadi, Thursday, March 12.
"The witness then shouted for help to the search team who were around the location. The information was also reported to the Long Peso Police personnel who then came to the crime scene," he continued.
Then, the police together with residents evacuated the victim's body using a body bag and took it to Long Bia Wharf.
"Upon arrival at the pier, the body was immediately bathed before being taken to the funeral home by the family," said Hadi.
Aipda Hadi Purnomo explained that the victim was a resident who had previously been reported to have drowned in the Kayan River.
"The results of the external examination of the victim's body did not show signs of violence. When found, the victim was still wearing the same black shirt and shorts as when he was reported to have drowned," explained Hadi.
He added that the family also stated that they accepted the incident as a disaster and refused to conduct an external autopsy or autopsy on the body.
