Menag prohibits ASN Kemenag from using government vehicles for homecoming
JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar prohibits the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) from using official vehicles for the sake of Lebaran homecoming, as part of maintaining integrity and ensuring that the use of state facilities is used responsibly.
"ASN is obliged to maintain integrity, professionalism, and to use state facilities responsibly. ASN is prohibited from abusing authority and official facilities for personal gain," said Menag Nasaruddin Umar as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 12.
The Minister of Religion explained that government vehicles are state facilities intended to support the implementation of official duties. Therefore, he continued, their use must follow the applicable provisions and not be used for personal interests, including for Lebaran homecoming trips.
"Some of the ASN of the Ministry of Religion are also on duty during the Eid al-Fitr, for example to escort the Ramah Pemudik House of Worship. During the performance of duties, you can use the facilities available," said the Minister of Religion.
This ban is in line with the provisions of Government Regulation (PP) Number 94 of 2021 concerning the Discipline of Civil Servants, which prohibits Civil Servants (PNS) from abusing their authority and official facilities for personal gain.
The Minister of Religion also reminded ASN to have an important role as an example for the community, especially in maintaining ethics and accountability in the use of state facilities. Especially in the momentum of Eid al-Fitr which teaches the values of honesty, responsibility, and discipline, in daily life.
"ASN is expected to set an example in maintaining the ethics of using state facilities," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar.
The government projects that there will be 143.9 million people moving during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation, so it is necessary to regulate mobility so that it is not concentrated at a certain time.
"We are trying to reduce the pressure by making a wider holiday period, regulating school holidays, and implementing flexible working arrangements for ASN, which is expected to reduce the burden of movement," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.
In addition to regulating mobility, Coordinating Minister Pratikno emphasized vigilance against potential hydrometeorological disasters. The disaster conditions in Sumatra have not yet recovered completely, several times it rains again and floods again hit the affected areas.
Outside the region, the level of vigilance remains high, including West Java, Central Java, DIY, Bali, to Papua, which still has the potential for high rainfall.
