Paripurna Approves Copyright Bill and PPRT Bill as DPR Initiative Bills

JAKARTA - The DPR plenary session passed the Copyright Bill and the PPRT Bill into the DPR initiative bill. This approval was carried out after eight DPR factions gave their views and approved the two bills as a proposal from the DPR.

"We need to inform you that the chairman of the council has received a letter from the President as follows: Number R-06, concerning the draft law on witness and victim protection; R-07, concerning the draft law on cyber security and resilience; R-08, concerning the plan for the ratification of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Canada," said Puan in the DPR plenary session at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 12.

Puan said that the letters have been and will be followed up in accordance with the provisions of the DPR RI Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning the applicable rules and mechanisms.

"The eight factions have conveyed their respective faction views, now it's time for us to ask the honorable council session, whether the bill of the initiative of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding changes to Law number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright can be approved as the DPR RI bill of initiative?," Puan asked all members of the DPR who were present.

"Agree," shouted the meeting participants followed by the approval hammer.

Puan also asked all members of the council who were present regarding the approval of the PPRT bill. The DPR leadership previously targeted the bill to be discussed and completed this year.

"The eight factions have expressed their respective faction opinions. Now is the time for us to ask the honorable council session, whether the DPR RI Baleg initiative bill on the Protection of Domestic Workers or PPRT can be approved as the DPR RI bill of initiative?," asked Puan, greeted with approval by members.

Apart from the Copyright Bill and the PPRT Bill, the DPR Plenary also approved the revision of the Hajj Management Law as a DPR initiative proposal.

"We ask the honorable council session, whether the bill of the DPR Commission VIII initiative bill on the Amendment to Law Number 34 of 2014 concerning the Management of Hajj Finances, can be approved as a DPR RI bill?" said Puan followed by the approval hammer.
