Emir Mahira Acknowledges Ustaz's Role in the Film Kupilih Jalur Langit as a 'Spiritual Check'
JAKARTA - Playing as Ustaz Furqon in the film Kupilih Jalur Langit turned out to have a profound impact on Emir Mahira's personal life. Emir admitted that this role requires preparation that is not just technical, but also involves more intense spiritual closeness.
"The first step is that I get used to being more diligent to pray first. For me it was before. Second, I certainly memorize the important readings for this film, along with the guiding teacher, because the reading is all kinds of things," said Emir Mahira when recounting his deepening process.
For Emir, finding pleasure in worship is the key to making the character he plays feel authentic. He doesn't want to just act, but to feel directly what a religious leader feels.
"The most important thing for me is to find discipline and find the pleasure of praying, that's the most important thing for me to be able to get closer to Ustaz Furqon," he said sincerely.
After filming, Emir actually felt more thirsty for religious knowledge. He realized that during this time the Islamic religion that he embraced felt like a mere inheritance, and now he wants to make Islam his own conscious choice.
"I don't want after filming this film, I realize that I don't want this Islam to be a religion that is only 'a gift' for me. I want Islam to be a religion for me, from me. So I want to learn more deeply," said Emir about his new principle.
The critical questions that he had buried in the past are now beginning to find answers. Emir feels that the period after filming this film is the right moment to catch up on his understanding of religion.
"Maybe the problems or questions that were unanswered in the past, which I chose to keep silent, now I'm chasing and I'm looking for the answers. And thank God, as long as I'm looking for these answers, I might be guided to find answers that finally fit," he explained.
He considers this film as a gentle reminder or "colekan" from the Creator. Emir feels that it's time for him to no longer underestimate the spiritual aspects that he had previously ignored.
"Before, maybe it was just strengthening faith and believing, now there are proofs, you know that there is a pattern. When you don't delve deeper? This film is a collection from God for me," concluded Emir Mahira.
Besides Emir Mahira, the film Kupilih Jalur Langit will also be starring Zee Asadel, Ratu Rafa, Ardit Erwandha, to Irgi Fahrezi.
