Pelni Jakarta Prepares 9 Ferries for the Homecoming
JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) DKI Jakarta Branch has prepared nine passenger ships to serve the 2026 homecoming or Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah which are (home base) at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta to a number of ports in Indonesia
"We have one ship with a capacity of 3,000 passengers, six ships with a capacity of 2,000 passengers and two ships with a capacity of 1,000 passengers ready to serve passengers in this year's homecoming period," said Head of PT Pelni Jakarta Branch Antonius Lumban Gaol as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 12.
The nine ships are the KM Ciremai, KM Dobonsolo, KM Gunung Dempo, KM Labobar, KM Tidar, KM Kelud, KM Bukit Raya, KM Ngappulu, and KM Kelimutu.
According to him, all the ships have carried out a 'ramp check' or a 'marine inspector' (marine inspector) conducted by the Office of the Port and Port Authority (KSOP).
"This ramp check is a thorough check of the condition of the ship, including, among others, the completeness of documents, navigation equipment, communication equipment," said Antonius.
Then, the machining and safety equipment is carried out twice a year, namely in each peak season period or a period with a sharp demand, namely before Lebaran and Christmas and New Year (Nataru).
In addition, all of these ships have also undergone annual maintenance (annual docking) to ensure the safety and condition of the ship that will carry passengers later.
"The result is that all these ships are seaworthy and operational," he said.
His party has also carried out repairs to the ship while the ship is sailing. Generally, minor repairs are handled immediately.
Antonius said that these nine ships serve sailing routes to a number of ports ranging from ports in the western region such as Belawan and Batam. Then the middle line to Ambon, Banda, Bau-Bau, Larantuka, Kupang to the eastern region in Papua.
However, for the homecoming transportation to the western region has departed from Tanjung Priok Port to a number of areas in the west. This ship will only return to Tanjung Priok Port after Eid or the return flow transportation.
"We are ready to provide homecoming services and deliver passengers safely to their destinations," he said.
Previously, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Jakarta Branch invited the public to take advantage of the discounts provided by the government during the homecoming and return flow of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
"There is a 30 percent discount from the basic tariff for departures from March 11 to April 5, 2026," he said.
He said on Wednesday, the number of seats available for sailing to East Indonesia was still available at the Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta.
"Sailing from Tanjung Priok to Ambon, Makassar to Papua is still available," said Antonius.
