Prabowo: Crisis Forces Indonesia to Accelerate Food and Energy Self-sufficiency
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto believes that the crisis currently occurring in several parts of the world is forcing Indonesia to accelerate its plans to realize food and energy self-sufficiency.
According to the President, although the crisis is a test for many countries, it can also create opportunities that support the progress of a country. The condition is called Prabowo as a blessing in disguise.
"We see the world today full of uncertainty, crises everywhere, but brothers, crises always produce opportunities, crises are tests, crises are stepping stones. The strong will survive, the weak will continue to suffer. This is a lesson from history," said President Prabowo when giving directions at the 1st Danantara Anniversary event at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11, reported by ANTARA.
The President believes that Indonesia can pass through the crisis for the sake of the crisis that occurs, one of which is due to the impact of the Israel-United States war against Iran.
"I believe and trust that the Indonesian nation is given extraordinary natural wealth, and we are able to get out of this crisis. We will get out of this crisis stronger. This crisis, in my opinion, is a blessing in disguise. It is indeed full of difficulties, it is full of challenges, but (the crisis) forces us to accelerate good intentions," said the President.
Prabowo then mentioned two major plans launched by his government, namely realizing food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency.
"We already have a plan for food self-sufficiency. Alhamdulilah it has been partially achieved. We already have the intention of energy self-sufficiency, which we plan to achieve in 4 years. But, (the crisis) forces us to accelerate. We have to accelerate. We have many alternatives. We are confident that we will overcome this problem. Many countries are in a more miserable condition than us," said President Prabowo.
Therefore, Prabowo said his priority in the near future is to build solar power plants (PLTS) in various parts of the country with a total capacity of 100 gigawatt (GW).
"We will implement electrification, renewable energy from solar power in the shortest possible time, we will build 100 gigawatt. That is my order. That is my decision, and we will prove to the world that we are faster and more effective in this matter," continued the President.
