Apple Music and TikTok Collaborate, Users Can Play Full Songs Directly in the App
JAKARTA - Apple Music streaming service customers will soon be able to listen to songs in full directly within the TikTok app thanks to a new partnership between the two platforms.
A new feature called "Play Full Song" allows users who find a song while browsing content on the For You page or on the sound detail page to immediately play the full version of the song without having to switch to the Apple Music app.
Through the "Play Full Song" button, TikTok users can connect their accounts with Apple Music. Once connected, the song will be played in full using the Apple Music player integrated in the TikTok app, rather than by redirecting the user to a separate music app.
This integration also allows users to save songs found on TikTok into the "Your Music" collection or add them directly to their playlists on Apple Music to listen to them later.
The partnership ensures that musicians and music companies continue to earn revenue from song playback. Because the song is played through the Apple Music system built with MusicKit technology, each stream is still counted as an official playback in the Apple Music service.
In addition to the full song playback feature, both platforms also introduced a new feature called Listening Party. This feature allows users to listen to songs simultaneously in one session with friends or communities in real-time while interacting with each other.
Artists can also create their own Listening Party sessions to interact directly with fans while listening to the same song simultaneously.
Until now, TikTok is known as a short video platform, but in recent years it has also developed into one of the world's largest music discovery engines. Many new songs that go viral and then dominate the global charts start from video clips lasting only a few seconds on the platform.
This new feature is scheduled to be launched globally in the next few weeks. The collaboration shows how the boundaries between social media and music streaming services are becoming blurred - users no longer just find songs on social media, but also listen to them directly without leaving the app.
