The Ministry of Transportation Starts Testing the Operation of the Bandung Skybridge

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), Ministry of Transportation through the Bandung Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP Bandung) has started to test the operation of the Bandung skybridge.

The Skybridge is to support the accessibility of Whoosh Fast Train passengers who will use Feeder Trains. This trial is carried out so that there is no accumulation of passengers ahead of the 2026/1447 H Eid Transportation. Previously, Feeder Train passengers used the same access as long-distance train passengers.

Head of the Bandung Class I Railway Engineering Office, Endang Setiawan, said that this trial operation was aimed at facilitating passenger flow so that it was not concentrated in one point only.

Furthermore, Endang said that the use of this skybridge is also much more effective and efficient because the distance between passengers and the Feeder train is much closer.

"This trial operation of the Bandung skybridge is a form of support for the operation of the fast train and to improve transportation services," said Endang in an official statement, Wednesday, March 11.

Endang also explained that as of March 10, 2026, the activities of passengers on the Feeder KA will move to the Fast Train Feeder Hall in the east of Bandung Station.

"For KA Feeder passengers, it is expected that they can adjust the access to and from the passenger waiting room in the future and not come to the station too close to the time of departure of the train," said Endang.

Endang explained that this trial operation was used as a material for evaluation in the future, especially in facing the 2026/1447 H Eid Transportation Period, where passenger occupancy will increase.

Previously reported, the access and waiting room for the Whoosh Feeder train (KA) at Bandung Station will be moved to a new area starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10. The new location is on the west side of the station, right in front of the Al Mu'min Mosque.

Passengers who will use the Feeder Train to Padalarang Station can access the location through the North Gate of Bandung Station from Jalan Kebon Kawung.

This access change began to be implemented on the first feeder train from Bandung Station which continued to operate according to schedule, namely at 07.16 WIB. The train is connected to the departure schedule of Whoosh from Padalarang at 07.53 WIB to Halim.

KCIC Corporate Secretary General Eva Chairunisa appealed to passengers to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the Feeder Train. This is because the door to the platform will be closed 5 minutes before the departure schedule.

"So passengers have enough time to adjust to the new access and waiting room and ensure that the travel process remains safe and smooth," said Eva.

Along with the implementation of the new access, the KA Feeder waiting room on the east and south sides of Bandung Station is no longer used. However, during the socialization period until the end of March 2026, access through the south side of the station can still be used to help passengers adjust to the new area.

To facilitate passengers, KCIC together with KAI will install signs and directions at a number of strategic points at Bandung Station. In addition, additional officers will also be alerted during the transition period, including in the old waiting area to direct passengers to the new location.
