Perpetrators of the Robbery and Murder of a Couple in Bekasi Do Not Know the Victim
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has confirmed that the perpetrators of the murder of a married couple (pasutri) in Bekasi did not specifically target the victim. The perpetrator is said to have acted randomly with economic motives.
Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Iman Imanudin, explained that the conclusion was obtained from the results of the investigation supported by evidence, witness statements, and the suspect's confession.
"Based on the results of the investigation, supported by evidence and witness statements and the suspect, the perpetrator does not have a specific target," said Iman at the Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
According to Iman, the suspect chose the victim's house because it looked the biggest compared to other houses around it. He thought he could get a lot of valuable items from the house.
"The perpetrator saw that the house was the biggest house, so he thought he could get a lot of the items he was looking for," he said.
Iman also revealed that the suspect had previously committed several acts of theft with a similar modus operandi in various places. In fact, in one incident, the suspect was caught by the victim but managed to escape.
In the series of actions, the suspect was known to frequently change places and had to find food in several places because of the very limited economic conditions. In fact, the evidence of the machete was previously taken from another location in the series of theft actions carried out a few days before the incident.
"The motive of the suspect is purely economic," he explained.
Iman said the murder occurred when the suspect was committing a burglary at the victim's house. At that time, the female victim woke up because of the morning alarm.
When the victim turned on the lights, he immediately faced the suspect who was inside the house.
"The suspect was shocked. When the victim turned on the electricity and met the suspect, the suspect spontaneously hit the mace that was previously used to poke the window," he said.
After attacking the female victim, the suspect saw the male victim who had woken up and was sitting on the bed because the room door was open. In a state of panic, the suspect then attacked the male victim.
The police emphasized that from the entire investigation process, including digital analysis and witness examination, no other motive was found other than theft which led to murder. In addition, investigators also confirmed that the suspect committed the act alone.
"We obtained the legal fact that the suspect committed his actions on his own," he said.
Regarding the issue circulating on social media regarding the alleged co-worker, Iman ensured that he did not find any relationship.
"From the facts obtained, we did not find that direction. This is purely a crime of theft and murder that accompanies the theft," he concluded.
