Transsemarang Bus Passengers Pay Tickets Using Gallons And Plastic Bottles
SEMARANG - The Semarang City Government has imposed a special tariff in the form of using plastic bottles that can be exchanged for Transsemarang bus tickets in commemoration of Environment Day.
"Especially for Transsemarang rides every Tuesday, from June 8 to July 6, 2021," said Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 3.
Types of plastic bottles that can be exchanged include a 1 gallon bottle will get 2 tickets, and 3 bottles of 1.5 liters each; 5 bottles of 600 ml; 7 bottles of size 330m; and 10 plastic cups measuring 220 ml can be exchanged for 1 ticket.
The plastic bottle waste can be exchanged at the Transsemarang Bus Stop Semarang City Hall, Simpanglima, Imam Bonjol, and Elizabeth.
"This policy is also one of the efforts to encourage public interest in using public transportation," he said.
Previously, Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi required city government employees to use public transportation or online when traveling every Tuesday, June 8 to July 6, 2021.
The mayor, who is familiarly called Hendi, said that apart from Semarang City Government employees, the appeal to use public transportation every Tuesday also applies to the general public.
He explained that the policy of Public Transportation Day every Tuesday for about a month is one of the activities to welcome Environment Day which falls on June 5.
