Diborgol, Riau Governor Nonaktif Arrives at Pekanbaru Airport

PEKANBARU - The non-active Riau Governor Abdul Wahid, wearing an orange-colored prisoner vest, mask, and hat, arrived at the Sultan Syarif Kasim II Pekanbaru Airport, escorted by the police.

Abdul Wahid appeared with two other suspects in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hand-in-hand operation (OTT) case when he was escorted by officers out of the airport area. When asked by the media crew about his condition, he answered briefly and quietly, "healthy".

Officers escorted the former Head of the Riau Provincial Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Residential Areas and Land (PUPRPKPP) Department, Muhammad Arif Setyawan, and Riau Governor's Expert Dani M. Nursalam. The two also wore prisoner vests with their hands handcuffed.

The arrival of the Governor was greeted by a number of parties who might be his supporters. Likewise, when Abdul Wahid and two others arrived at the Sialang Bungkuk Detention House in Pekanbaru City, they were also greeted by a number of supporters.

Previously, the KPK on November 3, 2025 confirmed the arrest of Abdul Wahid as the Governor of Riau along with eight other people in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT). A day later, the KPK stated that the Riau Governor's Expert Dani M. Nursalam surrendered to the anti-corruption agency.

The KPK then on November 5, 2025 announced the designation of Abdul Wahid (AW) and Head of the PUPRPKPP Riau Office Muhammad Arif Setyawan (MAS) as suspects in the case. In addition, the Expert Staff of the Governor of Riau Dani M. Nursalam was also designated as a suspect.

Furthermore, the KPK also carried out searches, both at the office, the so-called house, and the private house of a number of parties. The KPK has searched a number of offices ranging from the Riau Provincial Secretariat, the PUPR Office, the PKPP, the Education Office, the Regional Asset and Finance Management Agency.

Meanwhile, for people, the KPK has also examined a number of parties ranging from the Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto and Regional Secretary Syahrial Abdi. In both of them, the official residence and private house were also searched.

Finally, Abdul Wahid's aide with the initials MJ was also named a suspect by the KPK. Now this case will be immediately tried and has been referred to the Pekanbaru Corruption Court.
