DKI Provincial Government Investigates Bullying Regulation After Public Demand

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo opened the opportunity to make a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) regarding the handling and prevention of bullying or bullying in the capital.

Handling the bullying problem is one of the public's requests to Pramono when he visited the Duren Sawit Regional Specialty Hospital (RSKD) in East Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10.

"There were several requests, one of which was related to bullying. I will ask the Assistant for People's Welfare and the ranks to study whether a governor's regulation related to bullying is indeed necessary," said Pramono.

According to him, support from the surrounding environment is very important so that patients can recover and return to a better life after undergoing treatment.

For this reason, Pramono is committed to immediately following up on requests related to rules for handling and preventing bullying in the capital.

Not only that, he also appealed to the public to embrace mental disorder survivors so that they can have a better life.

"My hope is, hopefully, whoever is treated here, when they finish their treatment, will get better. And most importantly, the community must also be able to accept and eliminate the existing stigma," said Pramono.

Previously, Member of Commission VIII of the DPR Surahman Hidayat also highlighted the problem of children's mental health. According to him, the government needs to strengthen early detection of children's mental health, following the prevalence of suicide cases among school-age children.

He said this in response to data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in 2026 which showed that during the period 2023-2026, a total of 120 cases of child suicide were recorded.

The recorded child suicide case is not caused by a single factor, but the result of the interaction of various factors, ranging from poverty, bullying, depression, parenting patterns that lack empathy, to exposure to unhealthy digital environments, such as the influence of online games.

Therefore, Surahman encouraged the government to strengthen early detection of children's mental health through counseling and psychological services at schools, the opening of online counseling services, and the involvement of teachers and parents in supervision and assistance.

He also hopes that strengthening mental health testing and detection can be a concrete step in preventing similar cases from being repeated, as well as improving the child protection system more comprehensively.
