Female Passenger Stuck in Minibus Cabin After Hitting Truck on JORR Toll Road

JAKARTA - A female passenger suffered serious injuries after being trapped in a series of accidents involving four vehicles on the JORR toll road, TB Simatupang Road, East Jakarta (Jaktim), Tuesday afternoon.

The victim who was in one of the minibuses was trapped inside the vehicle due to the body of the car being broken after hitting the vehicle in front of him.

"I don't know what the cause is, but the car behind it hit the truck. Well, the car behind it was hit again, so it was a chain reaction," said an eyewitness at the location, Jumadi in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Officers from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) together with JORR Toll officers immediately carried out the evacuation process at the scene.

Jumadi said the accident started when three minibus units traveling from Pasar Rebo to Pondok Pinang Toll hit the back of a container truck.

The collision occurred in a row because the vehicle behind did not have time to dodge. The hard collision caused three minibuses to suffer severe damage to the front.

One of the vehicles was even broken, causing a female passenger to be trapped inside the car cabin. Officers took some time to evacuate the victim from inside the damaged vehicle.

After being successfully removed, the victim who was injured all over the body was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

"If there are no casualties, but there was one passenger who was taken to the hospital. It was stuck in the car, but thank God the victim is still alive," said Jumadi.

In addition to causing the victim to be injured, the accident also impacted traffic flow on the JORR toll road from Pasar Rebo to Pondok Pinang.

Long traffic jams occurred up to about two kilometers from the scene. The traffic density occurred due to the process of evacuating vehicles involved in the accident and the many drivers who slowed down when passing through the location.

"It was a long traffic jam as well. Because it happened in the afternoon, so it was a traffic jam position," said Jumadi.

The new traffic flow gradually returned to normal after JORR Toll officers towed the vehicles involved in the accident from the scene.
