Google Removes Support for Biometric Verification from the Find Hub App
Google has removed biometric support from Find Hub, an app formerly called Find My Device. The app will no longer require a fingerprint or PIN to find a person's device or location.
This change was only implemented on Tuesday, March 10. The last update from the application side was released in February 2026, but all users will still receive this change because Google launched it from the server side.
This change is quite surprising because biometric features are often considered as one of the best privacy layers. This verification system will make it difficult for users who want to use the application to view the location of the device irresponsibly.
With the loss of biometric support, users no longer need any support to log into the application. The way it works is now similar to Google Maps which is not equipped with biometric protection even though it can share location.
Find Hub now has a similar way of working to Find My for Apple's iOS ecosystem. Both can be accessed instantly without the need for repeated identity confirmation.
In addition to changes to access, Google also announced improvements to the Precision Search feature in the Play Store. A technical problem that caused the feature to not work on a number of Android devices has now been resolved.
After the biometric feature was removed from Find Hub, security experts now advise users to remain vigilant and lock their phones independently. This is because the built-in device lock is the leading layer of protection to prevent Find Hub abuse.
