February 2026 Retail Sales Estimated to Grow 6.9 Percent
JAKARTA - Retail sales performance in February 2026 is expected to increase both annually and monthly.
This is reflected in the February 2026 Real Sales Index (IPR) reaching 233.5 or growing by 6.9 percent year on year (yoy), or growing higher than the previous month which reached 223.6 or grew 5.7 percent (yoy).
BI Communication Department Executive Director Ramdan Denny Prakoso said that the performance of retail sales was driven by an increase in sales of the majority of groups, especially the Spare Parts and Accessories Group of 13.6 percent (yoy), Other Household Equipment of 4.9 percent (yoy), and the Sandang Subgroup of 8.4 percent (yoy).
On a monthly basis, retail sales in February 2026 are estimated to have increased by 4.4 percent month to month (mtm), up from the previous month which contracted by 2.7 percent (mtm).
"This increase is driven by public demand during Ramadan and the preparation for the National Religious Great Day (HBKN) Eid al-Fitr 1447 H," he said in a statement, Tuesday, March 10.
Almost all groups recorded an increase and boosted retail sales performance in the information and communication equipment group of 2.5 percent (mtm), motor vehicle fuel of 4.7 percent (mtm), and clothing subgroup of 9.6 percent (mtm).
Regarding the price, Denny said that the inflation pressure in the next three months, namely April 2026, is expected to decline, while in the next six months, namely July 2026, it is expected to increase.
This is reflected in the April 2026 General Price Expectation Index (IEH) of 153.9, lower than the IEH in March 2026 of 175.7, in line with the normalization of prices after the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr HBKN.
Meanwhile, the IEH for July 2026 is estimated at 157.1, higher than the IEH in June 2026 of 156.3, driven by an increase in prices during the new school year.
