Hezbollah Claims to Have Foiled Israeli Military Attempt to Enter Southern Lebanon

JAKARTA - The Lebanese movement, Hezbollah, on Tuesday (10/3) stated that it had thwarted Israel's military efforts to move further into southern Lebanon.

"At 02.30 local time or 00.30 GMT (07.30 WIB), Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance thwarted the Israeli forces' attempt to advance on the southern outskirts of the city of Al-Khiyam, in the prison area," the statement said, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik.

Hezbollah said fighters of the movement managed to hit two Merkava battle tanks, one of which was reported to be on fire.

According to the group, when the Israeli military attempted to evacuate the two tanks, Hezbollah fighters again attacked the evacuation team amid fierce clashes with advancing troops.

Earlier on the same day, Hezbollah also reported seven additional joint operations targeting concentrations of Israeli troops and military equipment along the southern border through precision strikes.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese NNA News Agency on Monday (9/3) reported that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun was ready to hold talks with the Israeli leadership to de-escalate the conflict between the two.

The statement was made by the president when he met with the ambassadors of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in Beirut. The president assured Lebanon's full readiness to continue negotiations and discuss the security issues necessary to stop the Israeli attacks, according to the report.

Aoun also confirmed that he had conveyed Lebanon's stance to "a number of countries that seek to end Israel's attacks" on Lebanon, NNA reported.
