Bawen-Ambarawa Toll Road is Functional Starting March 13

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has ensured that the Bawen-Ambarawa toll road will be opened for functional use starting from March 13-30, 2026 during the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah homecoming.

"We have functionalized two (toll sections) so that there are no black spots or trouble spots. Usually at the peak of the homecoming flow, it is crowded," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 10.

The Governor directly reviewed the readiness of the Bawen-Ambarawa functional toll road or the Yogyakarta-Bawen Section 6 toll road.

In addition to these sections, the toll road section that will also be functional on this Eid is the Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road to Prambanan.

According to Luthfi, the opening of the toll road is expected to reduce traffic congestion at Simpang Bawen, Semarang Regency.

For the time being, the Bawen-Ambarawa toll road which was opened functionally for the homecoming flow is lane A or the direction of Bawen to Ambarawa, after that lane B (Ambarawa-Bawen) will also be opened functionally on the return flow.

The toll road has a length of around 4.98 kilometers, stretching from the Bawen Toll exit to the Ambarawa Toll exit.

Line A will be functionally operational on March 13, while line B on March 23.

Two security posts will be established on the route, namely one post at the Bawen toll exit and one post at the Ambarawa toll exit, which will be guarded by Transportation Service officers and the police.

"Because the signs and street lighting are not complete, the toll function is not 24 hours," he said.

The plan is that the functional toll operational time will start from 06.00 to 18.00 WIB.

Head of the Central Java Transportation Office Arief Djatmiko stated that he had checked the Bawen-Ambarawa toll road with Jasa Marga and the police.

The Bawen-Ambarawa Toll Road will reduce congestion or vehicle accumulation at the Bawen Junction, in addition to of course there is traffic engineering at that point.

"Later, traffic engineering will be carried out so that there will be no congestion and accumulation there. Some will be directed here, especially those heading to Magelang and Jogja so that they do not exit at the Bawen Toll Exit," he said.
