Fire of 3 hectares of land in Natuna was put out by officers
NATUNA - The Natuna Regency Government (Pemkab) in Riau Islands Province, has put out a forest and land fire (karhula) that has burned an area of about three hectares.
Head of the Natuna Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat), Syawal, said the fire incident occurred on Monday (9/3) evening in Batu Kasah, South Bunguran District.
His party received reports from the community regarding forest and land fires in the area.
"We received information or reports of a fire from the surrounding community at 19.35 WIB," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 10.
After receiving the report, the firefighters immediately prepared personnel and equipment to carry out the firefighting operation at the scene.
In the operation, the Natuna Disdamkarmat deployed the Alpha Regu with one BP 9000 N-plated fire truck unit. The team moved to the location at around 19.40 WIB.
Upon arrival at the location, officers immediately carried out fire extinguishing efforts so that it did not spread to other forest and land areas. The extinguishing process lasted for 1 hour 15 minutes with the assistance of Natuna Police personnel, until finally the fire was successfully controlled at 21.25 WIB.
Until now, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained. However, the fire caused considerable damage to vegetation in the affected area.
In addition to damaging the surrounding environment, fires also have the potential to cause environmental pollution. Smoke and combustion residues can affect air quality in the surrounding area and have an impact on existing ecosystems.
"The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the impact is quite wide and can affect air quality around the scene," he said.
