Due to Pinjol, a 42-year-old woman in Tanjung Duren stole her friend's property up to Rp300 million

JAKARTA - A woman with the initials DS (42) is suspected of stealing a number of valuables worth Rp300 million in her friend's house on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara, West Jakarta. The action was carried out periodically. Until finally the perpetrator was arrested, it was found that the woman was burdened with online loans (pinjol).

Grogol Petamburan Police Chief AKP Reza Aditya said the suspect had carried out his actions from September to December 2025 at the victim's house.

"It's about Rp300 million for material losses, in the form of jewelry and luxury goods," said Reza, quoting ANTARA, Tuesday, March 10.

Reza explained that the suspect and the victim had a close friendship and had known each other for a long time.

The closeness was also used by the suspect to steal the victim's valuables by duplicating the key to his friend's house.

"This suspect duplicated the key to his house. Starting from the house key, everything was duplicated, until finally when the victim was not at home, this suspect entered the victim's house and committed the crime of theft," said Reza.

At the beginning of the loss, the victim thought that his property was stolen by a supernatural being.

However, recently, the victim began to suspect the people around him so he installed CCTV in his room.

"The victim's suspicions had led to mystical things. However, after the victim installed CCTV at his house, it was finally revealed that the theft perpetrator was the suspect DS," he said.

Furthermore, Reza said that based on CCTV camera footage, the police then conducted an investigation and managed to secure the suspect on Friday, March 6.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Alexander Tengbunan, added that during the examination process, the victim had asked the suspect about the reason why the suspect had attacked his belongings.

In fact, said Alex, the victim admitted that he had been so kind to his friend.

"The suspect answered, it was because the victim was too kind, that's why the suspect committed the crime," said Alex.

As for his actions, the perpetrator DS was charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code with a threat of seven years in prison.
