Launch ORIS, PT SMI Expands Public Participation in Sustainable Infrastructure Financing
JAKARTA - PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (PT SMI) as a Special Mission Vehicle (SMV) under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia officially launched PT SMI Infrastructure Retail Bond (ORIS). This instrument is part of the Initial Public Offering of Sustainable Infrastructure Bonds I PT SMI Phase II 2026 with an indicative issuance target of up to IDR 300 billion.
The launch event, held on Monday, March 9, at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, was attended by the President Director of PT SMI, Reynaldi Hermansjah, the Director of Operations and Finance of PT SMI, Aradita Priyanti, the Director of Risk Management of PT SMI, Pradana Murti, and representatives from the Joint Lead Underwriter.
The launch of ORIS emphasizes PT SMI's role as a Development Finance Institution (DFI) that is oriented towards economic growth and improving the quality of life of the community. Since its establishment in 2009, PT SMI has become a national sustainable development agency by accelerating development in strategic infrastructure sectors such as transportation, renewable energy, health, to the provision of drinking water, which is realized through innovative financing schemes and the mobilization of funding from various sources.
As a strategic instrument of the state, PT SMI serves as a fiscal tool to ensure the sustainability of infrastructure development while maintaining national economic stability. This mandate was emphasized again on the 17th anniversary of PT SMI on February 26, 2026, where the Company was directed to always have a framework of tangible impact. PT SMI's focus is not only on the completion of physical projects, but on the added value generated for the community.
PT SMI has been actively issuing bonds since 2014, where the participation of institutional investors is still very dominant compared to the participation of individual investors. In this context, ORIS is present to open wider opportunities for individual investors to contribute directly to the financing of projects that have a real impact on economic growth and community welfare.
In his remarks, PT SMI President Director, Reynaldi Hermansjah, hopes that the initiative from PT SMI through this ORIS investment instrument can be a strategic step that has a positive impact on expanding the domestic investor base.
"ORIS is a manifestation of PT SMI's transformation as an inclusive DFI, where we expand access for all layers of society to directly participate in national development. We want people not only to be spectators, but also active actors in the ecosystem of sustainable development in Indonesia. Thus, the issuance of ORIS can deepen the role of the national financial market in supporting sustainable infrastructure development," said Reynaldi.
All funds raised through ORIS will be used to finance projects that have a positive impact on society and the environment, in accordance with PT SMI's Sustainable Funding Framework. These projects include "green" sectors such as renewable energy and environmentally friendly transportation, as well as "social" sectors such as health facilities, education, and clean water provision. This funding framework guarantees the principles of sustainability, accountability, and transparency. ORIS is also supported by the national idAAA rating from Pefindo, which confirms the credibility and accountability of this instrument in the capital market ecosystem.
Director of Risk Management of PT SMI, Pradana Murti, emphasized that the issuance of ORIS still prioritizes the principle of prudence and strong governance as the main foundation of the Company.
"As a DFI, every instrument we issue is designed with a comprehensive risk management framework. Funds raised through ORIS will be allocated to projects that have undergone a rigorous risk assessment process, both in terms of financial feasibility, social-environmental impact, and long-term sustainability. We want to ensure that retail investors who participate through ORIS not only obtain instruments with a measurable risk profile, but also have confidence that their investments are managed responsibly and have a real impact," said Pradana.
Director of Operations & Finance of PT SMI, Aradita Priyanti, added that through ORIS, the public not only invests for themselves, but also contributes to national development ranging from access to basic services, regional connectivity, to better environmental quality.
"Of course there will be pride when we know that our investment supports development that has a real impact on the nation. We want to present an instrument that is not only financially rational, but also socially meaningful. When people participate through ORIS, that is where the sense of ownership of the development that is expected to strengthen national investment literacy and maturity grows," said Aradita.
As part of the public offering process, PT SMI together with the appointed Joint Lead Underwriter, namely PT BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, PT DBS Vickers Sekuritas Indonesia, PT Indo Premier Sekuritas, and PT Trimegah Sekuritas Indonesia Tbk. will conduct a series of ORIS socialization and roadshows in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Medan. The roadshow aims to provide a comprehensive understanding to prospective investors.
The Director of PT DBS Vickers Sekuritas Indonesia explained that ORIS offers 1 and 3-year tenors with coupons of 5.60 percent and 6.05 percent per year.
"The minimum value of the ORIS order is IDR 5 million and applies to multiples of IDR 1 million for each additional value of the order," he said.
Through ORIS, PT SMI opens a wider participation space for the public to be directly involved in national development through sustainable development financing. In addition to deepening the domestic financial market, ORIS is expected to create a more inclusive investment ecosystem, as well as strengthen long-term funding structures that have a real impact on national economic growth.
