83 Children Killed and 254 Wounded in 7 Days of Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
JAKARTA - The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, revealed that at least 83 children were killed and 254 others were injured in Lebanon after Israel launched a massive military attack on Lebanon that began since March 2, 2026.
"On average, more than 10 children have been killed every day across Lebanon over the past week, with around 36 children injured every day," said a statement published on the UNICEF website on Monday, March 9.
"In the last 28 months, 329 children have been reported killed in Lebanon and 1,632 injured," the statement added.
UNICEF considers the number of victims faced by children as a result of Israel's attack on Lebanon to be very shocking and a clear evidence of the impact of the conflict on children.
"Mass displacement across Lebanon has forced nearly 700,000 people - including some 200,000 children - to flee their homes, adding to tens of thousands who have been displaced by previous escalations," UNICEF wrote.
The agency then called on all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including schools and shelters, and to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law.
"UNICEF urges immediate efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent further harm to children," the UNICEF statement said.
