Budi Karya Sumadi Meets KPK Call in Semarang Regarding the DJKA Bribery Case 

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined the former Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi at the BPKP Semarang City office, Central Java today. The request for information related to the bribery case for the railway line development project of the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) for East Java has been carried out.

"Today, investigators are examining BKS as the former Minister of Transportation," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, March 9.

Budi said there were a number of things that investigators investigated from the examination of Budi Karya. Among them is the procurement mechanism in DJKA which is within the scope of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"Where are the projects in DJKA, there are a number of places, there are from Sumatra, then in West Java, Central Java, there is also the Solo-Jogja section, there is also in East Java, there is even one in Sulawesi," he said.

"This means that the KPK's need to examine the BKS witness to explain the implementation or plotting of work at a number of locations because the capacity in question is as an expert at that time," he continued.

In addition, Budi Karya's statement is also important as a gateway to finding the involvement of legislators of Commission V of the DPR RI. Anyone who played with Sudewo in the 2020-2024 period is being sought by the KPK.

Sudewo as a former member of Commission V of the DPR has been named a suspect.

Meanwhile, Tri Hartanto as Budi Karya Sumadi's lawyer agreed that his client had fulfilled the call of the investigators. His party was cooperative in attending the call.

"We (have, ed) fulfilled the call," he told reporters separately.

As previously reported, the KPK continues to develop the bribery case for the railway line development project of the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) for East Java. Most recently, Sudewo as a former Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2020-2024 was named a suspect.

Then, the KPK also promised to investigate the members of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2019-2024 who enjoyed the flow of money. One of them is Lasarus as the Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives at that time and was said in the trial to enjoy a project fee of 10 percent.

He is suspected of receiving money flows with members of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2019-2024 from various factions who are suspected of enjoying fees. They include Ridwan Bae, Hamka Baco Kady to Sadarestuwati.
