Vegetable Carrier from Banten Hits Coral on Panggang Island
JAKARTA - A tense atmosphere occurred when passengers of the KM Pratiwi ship carrying natural vegetables were stranded in the waters around the Soft Coral Besar Dive Spot, Panggang Island area, North Thousand Islands District, Thousand Islands, North Jakarta.
As a result of the incident, all passengers on the ship panicked and continued to seek help.
According to Mulyati (50), the boat he was on stopped after hitting a coral. The atmosphere on the boat was panicked.
"We were all panicked, but we are grateful that the Damkar officers quickly came to help us," he told reporters, Monday, March 9, 2026.
Mulyati said he did not know for sure the cause of the ship's sinking.
"At that time we were on our way to Panggang Island. Suddenly the ship felt like it hit something and stopped," he said.
Later it was found that the ship was captained by Hamdan. The ship departed from the Rawasaban Port, Cituis, Tangerang, Banten.
The boat was carrying vegetables to Panggang Island. However, while on the way, the captain was allegedly sleepy so that the boat went up to the reef in the waters around the Soft Coral Besar Dive Spot.
Head of Operations Section of the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman said that there were 6 passengers on board and they were successfully evacuated.
"There were six people on board. All of them were successfully evacuated in a safe condition. Thank God there were no casualties in this incident," he said when confirmed.
The process of evacuating the ship's passengers using the Satria Biru 07 unit. After the handling was carried out, the situation was declared safe and under control.
