DKI Provincial Government Takes Action on 206 Padel Field, Some Are Sealed because They Are Not Licensed
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has imposed administrative sanctions on 206 padel field managers in various areas of Jakarta. The action was taken because some of the facilities had not met the licensing and spatial regulations.
The sanctions given are in the form of written warnings, restrictions on activities, to the suspension of activities with sealing of the location.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Department of Construction, Spatial Planning, and Land (CKTRP) Vera Revina Sari said that the DKI Provincial Government basically supports the development of padel sports which is currently popular in the community. However, the construction and operation of padel courts must still follow the applicable rules.
"As part of the control of the development and operation of padel courts, the CKTRP Office has taken administrative action against a number of padel courts in DKI Jakarta. As of early March 2026, 206 padel courts have been taken action in various regions of Jakarta," Vera told reporters, Monday, March 9.
Based on the DKI Provincial Government's data collection until February 23, 2026, there are 397 padel court buildings in Jakarta. Of these, 212 locations or around 53.4 percent have permits. Meanwhile, 185 locations or 46.6 percent have not yet obtained permits.
South Jakarta has the most padel courts, namely 206 locations. Of that number, 99 courts have been licensed and the other 107 are not licensed.
In West Jakarta there are 90 locations, with 55 already licensed and 35 not yet licensed. Meanwhile, in North Jakarta there are 37 padel courts, consisting of 20 licensed and 17 unlicensed.
The same number was also recorded in East Jakarta with 37 locations, namely 23 had permits and 14 were not licensed. Meanwhile, in Central Jakarta there are 26 locations, consisting of 15 who have permits and 11 who have not been licensed. Meanwhile, in the Thousand Islands there is one location that does not have a permit.
Of the total 206 padel courts that were given administrative sanctions, the details include 110 locations in South Jakarta, 40 locations in East Jakarta, 31 locations in West Jakarta, 18 locations in North Jakarta, and 7 locations in Central Jakarta.
Vera said the data would be the basis for evaluation and arrangement in the future, following the direction of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung regarding the operational controversy of the padel field in densely populated areas.
He emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government would also regulate the operating hours of the padel field which is located in densely populated areas if its activities cause noise and disturb residents.
"This data shows that there are still padel fields that do not have permits. We will conduct training and supervision in accordance with applicable regulations, and coordinate with cross-regional devices as directed by the leadership," said Vera.
The DKI Provincial Government also evaluated permits and spatial suitability to ensure that sports facilities continue to develop without disturbing the comfort of the surrounding environment.
The action against the padel court was based on the Decision of the Head of the CKTRP Office Number 16 of 2026 concerning the Control of Buildings/Padel Courts.
In the regulation, the padel courts that are built or operated in accordance with the sub-zone in the detailed spatial plan (RDTR) can be subject to administrative sanctions and proposed not to be issued or revoked their business licenses. Meanwhile, the padel courts that have been built or operated without building permits (PBG) are also subject to administrative sanctions.
The padel field that already has a PBG but has not yet obtained a certificate of suitability for function (SLF) is required to apply for an SLF within 30 days of the decision taking effect. If it is not met, the manager may be subject to administrative sanctions.
